It’s hard to believe, but come July 22nd, our 2012-13 Season will be officially underway as the entire Labyrinth family retreats from the heat and daily toils of NYC to Connecticut College, where for ten days we will be hunkered amongst the pine trees to workshop dozens of plays and cull together the work we will present at the Bank Street Theater during our 21st Season.
As it is every year, the Summer Intensive is an opportunity for the Company to come together, reconnect, and get down to work. Each day, multiple plays are read, rehearsed, and performed by Company Members and guest artists as we begin the development process that carries us through from year to year. It’s a special time for us to be bold and to take artistic risks without the fear of public scrutiny. It’s the place where plays that go on to stages across NYC, the US, and the world are born.
This year, we are bringing plays by Company Members Florencia Lozano, Delilah Picart, John Ortiz, Mel Nieves, Lyle Kessler, John Patrick Shanley, Lucy Thurber, Maggie Bofill, David Bar Katz, Cusi Cram, Padraic Lillis, Martha Wollner, Craig ‘muMs’ Grant, Mariana Carreno-King, Wilemina Olivia-Garcia, Webb Wilcoxen, Bob Glaudini, Justin Reinsilber, Marco Greco, K. Poe, Ben Snyder, Michael Puzzo, Brett C. Leonard, David Deblinger, and Stephen Adly Guirgis — as well as work by a select number of Guest Artists.
We look forward to it every year. And we can’t wait to share what happens.
