Labyrinth Theater Company offers our Ensemble Workshop (formerly our Master Class) for emerging theater artists (actors/directors/designers) of all levels over a 5-week period. Both the content and the selection process of the Ensemble Workshop reflect Labyrinth's own beginnings and the way in which we continue that work today. Formerly known as our Master Class, the Workshop is a series of studio sessions led by Labyrinth Company Members and guest artists that focus on a wide variety of theatrical disciplines, including scene study, voice, movement and body, writing, performing, producing, and most importantly, ensemble building. Students will be encouraged and enabled to take physical, intellectual, and emotional risks that will serve to nurture the individual artist within the context of the Ensemble. THE SELECTION PROCESS An interview panel of Company Members meets applicants to select 16 people for each session, whom we believe will form a close-knit, diverse Ensemble. We seek emerging artists who show creative initiative in their lives, who thrive in a collaborative environment, and who bring an artistic dedication that will make the Ensemble Workshops a one-of-a-kind experience. Due to the ensemble nature of the class, and the amount of information covered in a short period of time, students must be in attendance for all classes. Please do not apply for an interview if you know that is not possible for you. THE PARTICULARS Sessions are scheduled firmly from 10am to 6:30pm, one day a week for 5 weeks. Two sessions run concurrently. Outside work will be required. The Workshop will culminate in a presentation of original work created by the Ensemble, which is open to the Company and the students' guests. If you have further questions regarding the Ensemble Workshop, please contact us at our offices at 212.513.1080 or by email at education@labtheater.org. |

"After the Ensemble Workshop, I not only consider myself an actor and writer – but have come to appreciate myself as 'an artist.' I no longer feel boundaries that may have previously been set in my mind, and I realize the only limits I have are the ones I put on myself."former Ensemble Workshop student Carrie D. - New York "I am so grateful to LAB for sharing such greatness with me ... We have been given a map and now it is time to take the journey and head out."former Ensemble Workshop student Jessica S. - California "This class has brought me back to pursuing the art of theatre, instead of just going from audition to audition, so truly thank you."former Ensemble Workshop student Bernardo C. - New York "I think it taught us never to say, "We can't, I can't," because when you don't have time to make an excuse, you figure out you can!"former Ensemble Workshop Student Jeanine B. - New York |
