Labyrinth Theater Intern Program

Labyrinth offers recent college graduates and early-career professionals the opportunity to work closely with our artists and staff. As one of the most diverse theater companies in New York City, Labyrinth provides a unique and dynamic experience unlike any other. Our interns have a hands-on opportunity to gain insight into different career paths in theater. In addition, we facilitate opportunities to develop professional relationships and we are devoted to fostering your growth as a leader in the theater industry both in New York City and beyond!

Types of Internships 

Marketing & Audience Development

  • Strategize and organize grassroots marketing tactics
  • Brainstorm and help execute social media strategy and content
  • Assist with database management
  • Assist with event coordination including talkbacks and community events
  • Competitive research and analysis
  • Assist House Manager with audience services
  • Assist Communications Manger with box office duties (Company Member, Artist, and Labpass reservations)
  • Knowledge of Excel, Photoshop, InDesign would be helpful but not required.
  • General administrative support

Start: April 2015

Hours: 15-20 flexible hours; mostly weekdays, some weekend availability

Duration: 3 months

General Management & Production Intern 

  • Production assistance and calendar management
  • Organize and manage office supplies
  • Manage the organization and maintenance of the Bank Street Theater
  • Assist General Manager with Company Member tasks
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures for theater
  • Knowledge of Salesforce and Excel would be helpful but not required.
  • General administrative support

Start: April 2015

Hours: 15-20 per week (late afternoon to evening availability required). Weekend availability is a must.

We are looking for someone with a strong interest in production management and/or production administration.

Duration: 3 months

What do I need to do to apply?

  3. If you are applying for an Artistic internship, a short writing sample is also required.

What kinds of recommendations do you require?

Recommendations from a professor, employer, and/or colleague that can speak to your character, work ethic, and/or interest in theater. All recommendations must be mailed to: Labyrinth Theater Company, Attn: Internship Coordinator, New York, NY 10014.

What is the best time to submit my application?

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. When there is an opening for an internship we will list the information on our website. Start and end dates are flexible.

Do I need previous experience?

We are looking for candidates who have demonstrated a strong interest in theater, either in school or in a professional setting. Labyrinth interns are smart, creative, energetic, passionate, curious, good listeners, disciplined, and reliable!

How many hours will I have to commit to a week?

We offer part-time internships that require a minimum of 15-20 hours per week.

What are the hours?

Our office is open Mon-Fri from 10am-6pm. Please note: During a production, Artistic, and General Management and Production  interns will be expected to participate in, and assist with, rehearsals and performances outside of regular office hours.

Where is your office located?

We are located in the West Village in New York City. 155 Bank Street, NY, NY 10014 to be exact.

How do you get to the theater?

We are located 10-minutes away from the 14th A/C/E station and at least 15 minutes from the West 4th A/B/C/D/E/F/M station.  The nearest buses are the M11, M14A & M20, which stop at Abingdon Sq., a 5 minute walk from the theater.

Is a a stipend or housing available?

There is no stipend or housing available at this time.

Can I earn college credit?

We’re happy to fill out any paperwork necessary to get you the credit you deserve.
